Mercer Boyd Edwards Sr.

Mercer Boyd Edwards, Sr., 90, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Ben Taylor will officiate. The family will greet friends from 1:00 until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Christ, 511 High Place, Macon 31201.

Mr. Edwards was born in Taliaferro County, Georgia and had lived in Middle Georgia for most of his life. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base and was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Christ, having taught Sunday School and was a deacon. Mr. Edwards was the son of the late Ruby Stewart Edwards and Samuel Shield Edwards and the widower of Alice Moore Edwards.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his son, M. Boyd Edwards, Jr. of Macon; grandchildren, Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Edwards of Tallahassee, FL and Mercer Boyd Edwards, III “Tripp” of Atlanta; great-granddaughters, Lexie Edwards and Zoe Edwards; brother, Billy Edwards of Social Circle, GA; sister, Ann Smith of Augusta.
