Roy Sanders “Sandy” Hatcher, Jr. 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 6, 2022. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road with the Rev. Justin Nalls and Rev. Michael Jones officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to donor’s favorite charity.
Sandy was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Roy Sanders Hatcher, Sr. and Hazel Mason Hatcher. He was a graduate of Lanier High School. Sandy was retired from the United States Postal Service with forty years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Journey Sunday School Class at Ingleside Baptist Church. In 1990 he won the Macon City Tennis Championship Doubles and Mixed Doubles and he also coached his daughter’s softball teams for many years. Sandy enjoyed traveling, estate sales, tennis and playing golf. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Carol Lovelace Hatcher of Macon; daughters, Melissa (Kenny) Jones of Macon, Melody (Quint) Hancock of Grovetown; grandchildren, Tiffany Jones (Kurt) Kozee of Macon, Skylar Hancock of Grovetown, Brittany Hancock of Grovetown, and Austin (Kaitlyn) Jones of Macon; great grandchildren, Bentley Hatcher Kozee, Ruby Rose Kozee and Presley Grace Jones all of Macon.
