

MACON — Roy Donald Sherrell, Jr., 57, of Byron, died Thursday, June 7, in Macon. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 11, at 11A.M. at Byron United Methodist Church with Rev. Baxter Hurley and Father Dan Varga officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends Sunday at the funeral home from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, they request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201; Byron United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 6, Byron, GA 31008; or the Boy Scout Troop 620, 124 Mills Circle, Byron, GA 31008.
Roy was a retired 25 year veteran of the Macon/Bibb County Fire Department. He was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Byron United Methodist Church as well as a former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 620 in Byron.
He is survived by his wife Melanie Martin Sherrell; son, Trey Sherrell (Janessa); daughter, Courtney Hale (Donald); granddaughter Emma Grace Hale; father, Roy D. Sherrell, Sr., brothers, David Sherrell (Donna) and Kenneth Sherrell; and a number of nieces and nephews.
