
Ruth Gregory Elliott, 86, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 at her residence. A memorial service and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m, on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Liberty United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Anthony officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in the Vinson Building of Liberty United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Music Department of Liberty United Methodist Church, 6511 Houston Road, Macon 31216 or Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 West Ridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Ms. Elliott, a native of Macon, was the daughter of the late Homer Floyd Gregory and Mattie Courson Gregory. She was a graduate of Miller High School and attended Wesleyan Conservatory. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base where she worked in Personnel and Item Management. Ms. Elliott was a member of Porterfield Garden Club, was past president of Macon Federated Garden Clubs, and was active at Powersville Opry. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church for forty years where she sang in the Chancel Choir, was a member of the Lucy Young Sunday School Class and Women for Christ UMW. For her faithfulness and service to the church, Ms. Elliott received the Quiet Disciple Award.
Survivors include those she cherished, her daughter, Melissa Elliott (Bruce) Shepard of Macon; her sons, Gregory Alan (Cynthia) Elliott and Clayton Gary (Leslie) Elliott, all of Macon; her beloved grandchildren, Catherine Michelle Elliott of Duluth, William Courson ”Corey” Elliott and Hannah Marie Elliott, both of
Macon; her sister-in-law, Mary Frances Sutton of Macon; her nephews, Floyd Gregory and Johnny Sutton; her niece, Susan Schneider.
