

MACON – Stella Gertrude Welsh, 89, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011. Private services will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Mrs. Welsh was born in Assumption, Illinois and was a United States Navy veteran, serving during WWII. She was a Yeoman First Class and received an American Campaign and World War II Victory Ribbon. Following her service to our country she and her husband moved to Louisville, Kentucky until their retirement. At that point they moved to Clearwater, Florida. She loved children, the Kentucky Derby, her nieces & nephews and enjoyed a good time! Mrs. Welsh was the widow of Thomas Michael Welsh and the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Leach Alexander.
Mrs. Welsh is survived by her sister, Nellie Juanita Chipman of Idaho; many nieces and nephews.
