Vicki was raised in Memphis, Michigan before moving to Chicago. All who knew Vicki can relate to the line Helena speaks in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream: “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” It describes Vicki’s demeanor and her approach to life. She lived life passionately, full of confidence and direction. Her love for her husband, children, and friends, was second only to her fierce devotion to her savior Jesus Christ.
Her fearlessness was admirable and was a constant source of inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She never shied from the truth, nor hid her feelings. Her commitment to her Christian faith, and her open sharing of it, brought others to salvation. She was proud of her husband, Bob, and her children, Ian, and Kaitlyn. When Vicki welcomed you into her life, you were gifted a friendship like no other. She picked you up when you were down and celebrated your every victory and accomplishment. In times when you didn’t believe in yourself, she was quick to give you a proverbial “reality slap” and set you back on course.
Vicki spent many years in the radio industry. She was a “broadcaster’s broadcaster” who touched the lives of her listeners every time she opened the mic. Full of energy and vigor, Vicki’s every show was an event. She loved Rock & Roll, and she loved bringing it to the masses. She brought comfort to prisoners who listened, often reading their letters on the air, and wished them well. She rallied her listeners into a communal experience that transcended a mere radio broadcast.
If one is lucky, they are given a few close friends in life. With Vicki as your friend, you were truly blessed, with a bar of loyalty and unwavering love that not many can rise to. Her vibrant spirit affected everyone who knew her. Vicki’s smile was infectious, and her laughter was contagious. When you laughed with Vicki, it was uncontrollable. Her words comforted and her hugs lingered.
Vicki often bragged about her rockstar husband, her handsome and brilliant son, and her lovely daughter. She had a photographic memory and would provide details that made every reminiscence shine. Vicki loved animals and doted on her dogs and cats. She loved to listen to music…loud. Driving with Vicki was not for the weak-of-heart. She had somewhere to go, and she was going to get there!
Vicki leaves us with a lifetime of stories to retell, milestones to treasure, and love to believe in.
Vicki Nicksic lived a life bringing joy to others, cherishing shared moments, and keeping you close to heart in times apart. The void left in her passing has left us shattered and sad. Vicki would want us to remember the wonderful times we had and know without a doubt we shall be reunited.
