Our beloved Patrick was only with us for 31 years but he lived more in that short time than many people do in 80 years. He had a wonderful sense of adventure and spontaneity. He had a hunger and a zest for life, always searching out new and exciting challenges on a quest for learning about the elusive world surrounding him. He never played organized sports but he loved to skateboard, snowboard, rock climb, run, kayak, hike and ride his bicycle as well as his motorcycle. He participated in Tough Mudder competitions, not to win a race but for the comradery. He loved music and had a beautiful voice. He mostly played the guitar but also played piano, violin and drums. He had a passion for video games and even made lasting friendships through playing online with other likeminded people. He had a fascination with food and food preparation and worked in the industry for many years. He would pester the chefs to learn prep secrets. He was also a mixologist and was employed as a bartender the last few years. He was enamored with the science of creating drinks to share with family, friends and customers. He enjoyed travelling and exploring new places. He and his girlfriend Gretchen made journeys to Florida, New York, South Dakota, Texas, Pennsylvania, Canada and California and explored many areas of Georgia on spontaneous road trips. He was an incredibly patient teacher. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had a way of lighting up a room with his presence. His heart was kind and giving. To his family he was a continual source of joy, surprise and exasperation. His was their best friend, confidante, fiercely protective and full of light and love. His death feels premature and senseless and the pain of grieving is almost unbearable; however, the love that we all shared with him binds us all together and is very much alive, continuing into infinity.
We love you our sweet, beautiful boy. Mom and Dad, big brother Jonathan, big sisters Laurel and Marissa, brother-in-laws Matt and Brian, nieces Ashlee, Morgan and Kayla and nephew Devon.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 30 from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Theatre Macon.
