Christopher Arthur (Quippy) Scheppach, 60, passed away on December 26. He was predeceased by his father, Douglas Sr. and his mother Maureen (Mulvey). He leaves his brothers Mark and Douglas Jr., Uncle Dan (and Nancy) and Mark Mulvey (and Anne); and cousins Lisa Mulvey, Shauna (Mulvey) Fitzgerald, and Mia Abarca
Born April 23, 1965, he grew up in Madison and graduated from Hand High School in 1983. Quippy loved the ocean and the Sound. Fishing, clamming, oystering, even occasional swimming took much of his time.
The clam approaches life with bemused (even Quip-like) becalmed detachment and therefore death is no big deal.
There was a ten year period that featured a Key West trip with Ronnie and Dan, eight of those years fishing with Tony. If we kept track, Quippy caught the most fish. He once won a fish pool on a boat out of Gloucester; it was a wolf fish that he claimed was uglier than his uncle.
A bigger part of his life was spent on the clam boat Sarah B out of Milford. If the boat did not work, Quippy fixed it. He indeed was the Compleat Angler.
Just as happy as a clam.
Without a doubt I am I am.
He made the best linguini and clams and loved the pork chop at Brother Mike’s and prided himself on his culinary talents. And his nick name was most fitting because he could out-quip anyone.
Calling hours and reception will take place January 10 from 3-7 at the Westbrook Elks.
Sadly I part from you: like a clam from its shell, I go….
