Harry was born on June 27, 1945 in Bridgeport, CT to the late James and Alice Taylor. He earned both a Bachelors and Master’s degree in Education as well as a second Masters Degree in Environmental Science from Southern Connecticut State University.
Harry worked as an Elementary school teacher bookending a career as a pharmaceutical representative. He was a veteran of the United States, serving in both the Vietnam and the Gulf War(s), first as a Navy corpsman upon graduating high school and later with the Army National Guard.
Harry had a plethora of interests and spent a his time tinkering with his vast collection of Lionel trains, swimming in the mornings with friends at Water’s Edge in Westbrook, boating, fishing, traveling with his family, and socializing over a meal. Harry, or Poppers as many knew him, will most be remembered for his love of ice cream.
In addition to his cherished wife Ellen, he will be greatly missed by his son Christopher and his wife Kirsten, his daughter Carey, grandson Noah and sister Anne. He leaves behind his sister-in-laws Mary, Margaret, and Pat as well as brother-in laws Joel, James and Edward in addition to many nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by is son Eric whom he is now with.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at St. Lawrence Church in Killingworth followed by the burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Killingworth. Visitation hours will be Monday, September 16, 2019 from 4-7 pm at the Swan Funeral Home in Madison, CT.
