Thomas Louis BaRoss, age 90 passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Thomas was born May 26, 1931 in Greenlawn L.I., New York. He was married to Genevieve Ann Cushing BaRoss, the love of his life.
Tom graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was an Air Force ROTC member and President of the Arnold Air Society and received the Connecticut Reserve Officers Outstanding Basic Cadets Award.
Upon graduation he entered the Insurance field for two years then moved onto retailing with Mercantile stores of N.Y., then moved to Mobile, Alabama as a buyer of domestic then Merchandise Myer stores children's, juniors and woman's departments. In 1964 he moved back to N.Y. and Connecticut to sell Caterpillar tractors and machinery. Introducing many of the special models for land clearing and scrap yards, thus was written up world wide in the Caterpillar Magazine.
He later joined the Chadwick-BaRoss Co. in Maine and sold the largest cranes ever in the East to the Seabrook Atomic Plant in New Hampshire. After retiring from selling equipment Tom started a building company developing Greenspring's and Woodgate subdivisions. He also built the Hammonasset Racquetball Club which is now Harbor View Medical Building.
Visitation for Thomas will be held Monday, July 26, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison, CT 06443. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM directly in St. Margaret's Church, 24 Academy St., Madison, CT 06443. Burial will immediately follow in West Cemetery, Madison, CT 06443.
