He was born on July 12, 1940, in New Haven, the son of Francis J. and Lucy Hearns.
William was a plumber for 48 years, and served with the Stony Creek Fire Department for 50 years. He served with the United States Navy from 1958-1962 was was Honorablly discharged as a Quarter Master Third Class. He was also an Eagle Scout.
William is survived by his wife Beatrice; his son Patrick and his wife Betsy Hearns; his grandchildren John, James, Kristen, Ali, and Tori; his special friends Parker and Bo; his close friends Mable and Nancy. He was predeased by his daughter Tammy Hearns. He is also survived by his sisters Susie and Betty Ann, and his niece Cathy.
Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
