Beloved mother of Zachary Althouse; loving sister of Nancy McEachern and Susan (Joel) Burke; proud aunt of Kara, Jennifer, and the late Allison; great-aunt of McKenna. Barbara was preceded in passing by her loving partner, Jeffrey Althouse; and her parents, Herbert and Joanne Proffitt.
Barbara was born on December 13, 1954 in Detroit. She proudly worked as a General Manager for White Castle for 40 years. Barbara loved keeping up with yardwork, her plants, cleaning, watching sitcoms, and listening to music (especially PitBull!). Her love for Pepsi Cola was unmatched and she always had one in hand. Growing up, she enjoyed shopping with her sisters and grabbing a bite to eat at the Big Boy.
The family will greet guests from 10:00am until time of service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Rd., Madison Heights, Michigan. Interment following at Christian Memorial Gardens West, 521 E. Hamlin Rd., Rochester Hills, Michigan.
