Catherine June McCarthy, age 88, passed away on January 7, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard. Catherine is survived by her dear children: Richard (Sherrie), Maureen (the late Harold) Comby, Susan, Margaret, Corrine, Mary (Anthony) Kashat, Tim (Sandy); grandchildren: Christiana, Ivan, Kelly, Rebecca, Karlie Rae, Allyssa, Joshua; and great-grandchildren: Tristin and Bayleigh. She was blessed by many close friends.
Catherine was a Registered Nurse and worked as a Surgical Operating Room Nurse for Holy Cross and Troy Beaumont Hospitals. She was an avid golfer, gardener and sport fan who also enjoyed many hobbies throughout her lifetime. She volunteered at Oakland Macomb Ascension Hospital and was an active member of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre, Madison Heights. Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 28353 Herbert, Madison Heights. A private family burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
Memorials may be made (in lieu of flowers) to: Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Association of the Miraculous Medal, Padre Pio Foundation or St. Vincent De Paul.
