I can remember Dale when I followed his band around all over the county with his good friend Jack Runyon. Jack passed away unexpectedly years ago, but Dale carried him in his heart daily. I soon learned that Dale was one of the mainteance men at the Clawson Manor when I moved in here and I was happy to see that he worked here and I eventually ran into his lovely wife Nancy, as she would help a senior lady here in the building. They were a very kind couple and Dale and his music will be greatly missed in this world. When he played his music, it made him shine. My thoughts and prayers will be with his wife Nancy and all the other family members who loved him very much. God Bless!

I've had the pleasure of working with Dale for about 3 years. I learned from Dale and in the process we began to share things about our lives to one another. Dale really loved his music, his back and forth with his buying and trading guitars was a fun experience for him. He would talk about his new grandson and how He and Nancy were going to visit with his daughter and son-in-law. Dale woud also talk about his summers as a boy in Alabama. I will cherish the times we had to get to know each other.

Dale i will miss you takeing me on walks around the house on my perch,also i will miss my treats and toys you bought me.love ya day,day your african gray parrott jo jo.

I enjoyed working with Dale at Clawson Manor for nearly 8 years. He was fun to work with. He was always working on some kind of side project. He especially liked working on lawn mowers and enjoyed restoring them. I think about Dale often and miss him very much. I once told him at a employee meal that he was like my annoying big brother which embarrassed him. I feel like there has been something missing at my job ever since he left. He made an impact on my life and I will never forget him.

I was very sad to here about Dale. I knew him in school and always thought he was a sweet guy.I have not seen him in years and wish I could have known how his life turned out.What a nice guy!

  I have many memories of my friend Dale Payne. Dale had a LOVE for LIFE and MUSIC. I've known Dale since I was 5 years old. Dale, Jim MaCauley, my brother Tom and I, started a band many moons ago. It was called "The Prisoner's of Time". We had lots of fun playing on beat-up equipment but that didn't matter to us, because no matter how it looked, WE PLAYED!
  Dale would come over to our house and we would jam for countless hours just having fun playing guitars together. Dale was my mentor. I never told him that until much later on in life, but deep down I think he knew it. I use to tell myself all the time that one day I would be as good, if not better on the guitar than Dale. When that time came, we both sat down and really had some fun throwing leads back and fourth to each other.
  I remember back in 1975-1976 at Hazel Park High, the vocal music department was doing a production called "From Back to Rock" and the vocal music director at that time, Eric Miller, knew I was in a band and he asked if we would come and perform a couple of numbers during the show. Well...Dale, my brother Tom, Phil Rowe, Roger Lee and I did it up. We told Eric Miller that we would dress up as the rock band "KISS".  That was the only time I have ever seen the auditorium wall opened, the commons area between the auditorium and Cafeteria full and even the wall to the Cafeteria was open for seating. There were so many people there. And we were so amazed! Eric Miller didn't know what to think. He was ecstatic with joy over the concert, and the turn out. Dale, my brother Tom and I would talk about that from time knowing that type of production at the High School would never be repeated EVER again. We were a part of something very special.
  Dale, you are a brother to me and you always have been. I've enjoyed our journey together and you have touched me and others in more ways than you can imagine. I will miss you from now on. I know that you're entertaining the Angel's in Heaven as you have all of us here on this Earth. I Love You My Brother. R.I.P.
