

John E. Bonino Jr. age 94 of Warren, MI. died December 23, 2015. He was born in Universal, Indiana on May 18, 1921, the second child of John B and MaryAnn (Simm) Bonino. He was as sheet metal worker in the Army Air Corp during WW II. Because of an injury, he was medically discharged and worked at Murray Bodies making airplane wings for bombers in Detroit, MI. He worked for Chrysler Corp for 45 years, retiring from Dodge Main in 1989. He worked in the materials test laboratory as a chemist and metallurgist. He was a proud member of UAW local 412 serving as an officer in the retirees chapter for several years.
John loved sports. He was an avid bowler, involved in league bowling from 1945 to 2012. He bowled two to three times per week He also played baseball until he was 72. He enjoyed playing basketball and hockey as well. He was a great fan and follower of the Pistons, Lions, Tigers and Red Wings.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly, his daughters, Toni (David) Zimmerman, Billie (the late Tom) Heiden, step-daughter Kelly (Adam) Warthen, step-son Brian (Crystal) Figliacconi. Eight grandchildren, Sandi (Hugh) Rhorer, Don (Diana) Heiden, Dana (Jim) Haigh, Greg (Deanna) Heiden, Chris (Angela) Heiden, Jason (Marsha) Zimmerman, Kristin (Michael) Beebee, Jeffrey (Jenna) Zimmerman, three step-grandchildren, Angelina Warthen, Dominic and Adriana Figliacconi and eighteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Mary Savi and Evelyn Gravina and former wives Norma Jean (Wilder) and Lucy Belle (Stimson).
Visitation will be Monday 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. with funeral services Tuesday 11:00 a.m. Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home 30351 Dequindre Madison Heights, MI. 48071. Interment White Chapel Cemetery.
