Robert J. Shaner

Robert J. “Bob” Shaner passed away on March 24, 2018 at the age of 90. He was the loving husband of Barbara for 62 years. The beloved father of Catherine (Michael) Mandarino. The most loved and most loving grandfather of Matthew J. and Vincent M. The cherished brother of Virginia Tutag and Leonard (Rose Marie) Shaner. The dear brother-in-law of Barbara (the late Thomas) Shaner, Nona (the late James) Shaner, Robert (Anna) Abratowski, Geri (the late Harry) Till, and Chris (the late Edward) Abratowski. The loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Robert was a proud Navy Veteran. He served during World War II and was stationed at Bikini Island when the bomb was dropped.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 2 to 8 pm at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Road in Madison Heights. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10am at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 28353 Herbert St, Madison Heights. Friends may visit the church beginning at 9:30am.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are appreciate to the family of Robert. They will be making contributions to charities that were close to his heart.
