Ronald Joseph Piskor

Ron Piskor, born at one second past midnight on January 1, 1949 - the very first baby welcomed into the New Year - lived a life that perfectly matched that bold beginning: full of energy, curiosity, and adventure. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of stories, passions, and love that will continue to ripple through everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, MaryAnn and Joseph Piskor.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Piskor; his beloved daughter, Molly; his dear sister, Mary, and her late husband, John; along with many friends and family who will forever cherish his boundless enthusiasm for life.

From an early age, Ron was drawn to movement and discovery. A true pioneer spirit, he became known on the water as one of the early windsurfing trailblazers. Earning the nickname “Iron Arms,” he famously crossed Lake Saint Clair without a harness, a feat that spoke to both his strength and his refusal to do anything halfway. For Ron, adventure wasn’t something you planned for later; it was something you chased head-on.

His love of exploration didn’t stop there. Ron traveled across the country photographing steam engines, capturing the beauty and power of these mechanical giants. What began as a childhood fascination, sparked by a treasured train gift from his uncle, grew into a lifelong passion. Trains weren’t just machines to Ron; they were stories, history, and living memories, and he documented them with care and artistry.

He loved animals, the outdoors, and any excuse to be outside moving, exploring, and living fully. Ron had a rare gift for turning ordinary days into stories.

On his final day, Ron was exactly where he belonged, ice boarding across the pond he built at his home, wind on his face and joy in his heart. He came inside, watched the video of his ride, and in one swift moment was gone. A perfect last glide for a man who lived for motion, freedom, and adventure.

Fittingly, a man who began life as the first breath of a brand-new year spent his days always looking forward… toward the next horizon, the next journey, the next story to tell.

Ron will be remembered for his strength, his curiosity, his gentle heart, and his unwavering love for his family. His spirit lives on in the wind across the water, the rumble of distant trains, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

To those who knew and loved him, Ron wasn’t just admired.. he was a legend. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

The family will greet guests from 3:00pm until 8:00pm with a 7:00pm Rosary Service on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Rd., Madison Heights, Michigan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Monday, February 9, at St Louise de Marillac Catholic Church, 2500 12 Mile Rd, Warren. Burial following.
