Scott Stinson, born on October 17, 1957, in Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away April 6, 2025, in Warren, Michigan, leaving for his heavenly home to be with his lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband, grandfather, father, uncle, brother, and son, as well as coach and mentor.
Scott is survived and missed by his loving wife Crenia (née Richardson); his children, Matthew (Stephanie), Jakob (Maribeth), Joshua (Sarah), Cheyenne (Connor), Shaylia, and Faith; his granddaughter, Jane; his sister, Denise (Robert), his brothers, Michael (Carol) and Mark; his former wives, Manuela and Michelle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Walker, mother, Willine, sister, Linda, and sister-in-law, Terri.
Scott was a long-term resident of Madison Heights, Michigan, and served as an employee of Madison Heights School District for nearly 50 years. He was a star student-athlete at Madison High School and later coached and mentored an untold number of children and young adults throughout Oakland County. His last, and best, protégé was his daughter, Faith, who is a star three-sport student-athlete at Lamphere High School.
Scott was a passionate man. He was an accomplished outdoorsman and nature-lover who religiously reveled in God’s creation. He spent much of his adult life stewarding his beautiful forest property in Mid-Michigan, just outside the town of Farwell, and shared his land with family and friends to further enrich their lives and bring them closer to nature and God. Scott was also a curious man. He was a skilled electrician, a do-it-yourself extraordinaire, and a lifelong learner who was as interested in immense topics like theology as he was in small wonders, like his granddaughter’s best tickle spots.
When not silently observing nature or hunting in the woods, Scott employed his deep, authoritative voice to make sure his opinion and guidance were well known. If he liked you, he’d greet you with a boisterous “YO!” If he loved you, he’d bid you goodbye by sincerely saying “always,” his shorthand for always love.
Scott’s journey on this earth was one marked by love, passion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives he touched. Those who knew him will never forget him.
A visitation for Scott will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Road, Madison Heights, MI 48071.
