

William J. Boyd Jr. age 78 of Madison Heights, Mi. after a long battle with cancer. William passed away peacefully in his home on Friday March 30th, 2012. Bill was born September 18, 1933 in Dansville, New York to the late William and Glady's Boyd Sr. Beloved husband of Marilyn. Dear father of Kevin (Nancy) Boyd, Kathleen (Norman) Zuhl and Kristin (Rob) Varney. Loving grandfather of Douglas, Renee, Kaitlyn, Rochelle, Koreen, Ryan and Kyle. Brother of Betty (the late Burdette) Sauerbier, Donald (Jane) Boyd, Jean (the late John) McKay, Joyce (the late William) Mothorpe, the late Clyde (Dolly) Boyd and the late Butchie Boyd, his nephew the late Douglas Boyd son of Clyde & Dolly Boyd. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation Monday 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday 2-8 p.m. at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home 30351 Dequindre Madison Heights, Michigan. Bill was a graduate of Dansville High School in New York and Cortland State Teachers College in New York. Bill was president of the Greater North Woodward Optimist Club in 1974. He dedicated his life of 34 years to teaching in Royal Oak, with 3 years at Mary Lyons Jr. High and 31 years at Royal Oak Dondero. Bill was a beloved teacher and a dedicated coach for multiple sports while a Dondero, Bill was inducted into the Royal Oak Schools Hall of Fame in 1977, he was also one of the founding fathers of the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and was inducted into the hall in 1993. Bill was also involved in his church First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak where he was a Deacon, Elder and Trustee.
