

Born in Amherst County, December 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Russell L. Alcock and Bessie Mays Alcock. He was a retired conductor with the Norfolk Southern Railroad with 30 years of service. He also enjoyed farming and planting in his garden. He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Amherst.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael J. Alcock, Paul T. Alcock and David K. Alcock and his wife Robin; one brother, Robert Alcock and his wife Liz; one sister, Mildred Jester; one sister-in-law, Alice B. Alcock; three grandchildren Carolyn F. Alcock, Paul T. Alcock, Jr. and Alex B.H. Alcock and three great grandchildren, Kyria J. Alcock, Jordyn F. Alcock and Jacob H. Alcock.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 11:00 Saturday, January 28, 2017 with Dr. Michael Fitzgerald officiating.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society or to a charity of your choice.
