Barbara Joan Melton

Born on March 22, 1939, in Fellows, California, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Edward Rothwell and Frances Kurtz Rothwell. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert “Bud” Fox Melton Jr., and two sisters, Diane R. Case and Judy R. Ping.

Joan was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy, where she enjoyed helping decorate for the Senior Saints and assisting with church dinners. She also shared her talents for decorating the local Ruritan Club. Joan retired from K-Mart after many years of dedicated service.

She had a love for drawing and painting, and her family fondly remembers her as a talented artist. Joan also enjoyed being outdoors, especially working in her yard. She cherished the friendships she made through her church and community.

She is survived by her two children, Kathryn Marie Whittaker and Bradford Dwayne Melton and wife, Paula; one brother, Terry L. Collins; four grandchildren, Destiny Melton, Gracie Melton, Kyleigh PerDieu, and Shayna Funk; four great-grandchildren; and many dear friends from church.

In honoring Joan’s wishes, the family requests that all services remain private.
