Calvin Wilson Mitchell

Calvin Wilson Mitchell, 83, of Madison Heights, died Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Grace Johnson Mitchell. Born February 17, 1929, in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Edward Lee Mitchell and the late Mildred Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a retired employee for Food Fair and McCormick Foods, and he was a member of Parkville Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his son, Richard C. Mitchell; four brothers, Charlie Mitchell, Howard Mitchell, James Mitchell and Woodrow Mitchell; four sisters, Mary Hackett, Linda Clements, Anna Mitchell and Elizabeth Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by one brother, George L. Mitchell and his wife Linda of Madison Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2012, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. Military Honors will also be presented by the U.S. Army National Guard. Interment will on follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 Padonia Rd., Timonium, MD, 21093.

The family will receive friend, 3-4 p.m., Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
