Cathy Loretta Ward, 61, of Madison Heights, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at her residence. She was the wife of William B. (WB) Ward, Jr. for twenty-five years.
Born November 15, 1956 in Birmingham, AL, she was the daughter of the late Flora “Del” Hill Luz and George Richard Luz (Brenda) of Radford, VA and was also preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel Justin Luz; grandparents, Dewey and Easter Hill and George F. and Wilton Luz, and her father-in-law, William B. Ward, Sr. Cathy was a home health care provider with Home Instead and was a former employee of the C.V.T.C. and Rite Aid Drug Store in Lovingston. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Cathy is survived by her children, John E. Ward and Misty Dawn Ward, both of Madison Heights; two brothers, Barry R. Luz and wife Karen of Big Bear Lake, CA and George Mitchell Luz and wife Samantha of Salem, VA; two sisters, Anderia P. Thacker and husband Tommy of Madison Heights and Donna L. Campbell and husband Erick of Ashley, OH; nieces and nephews, Gage and Cameron Campbell, Kayleigh and Cameron Luz, Amanda, Samantha, and T.C. Thacker, Jamie Luz, and Aaron and Carsten Luz. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Mary Ruth Ward of Big Stone Gap, VA.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Pastor Dwayne Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Thacker Family Cemetery in Piney River.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
