
Charles “Dick” Harrison Gunter, 86, of Madison Heights, went to be with His Lord, Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Gracie Scott Gunter. Born November 19, 1927, in Buckingham County, he was the son of the late Walter Clarence Gunter and the late Louise Dooley Gunter.
Dick was a retired surveyor for the Department of Highways and a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. He also served our country in the US Army/Air Force.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by one sister, Isabelle Wooton; and two brothers, Walter Clarence Gunter, Jr. and William Lloyd Gunter.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by two children, David Charles Gunter and his wife Celeste of Richmond and Teresa Hall and her husband Roger of Madison Heights; five siblings, Percy Gunter and his wife Judy of Madison Heights, Irene Farthing of Amherst, Elizabeth Hartless of Vinton, Margaret Ogden and her husband Kermit of Madison Heights and Sadie Campbell and her husband Tommy, also of Madison Heights; two grandsons, Joshua David Gunter and Coleman David Hall, both of Richmond; one great granddaughter, Madison Grace Gunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Evelyn West, who helped care for Dick the past two years.
As requested by Dick, services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centra Hospice.
