Obituary of Christine Puckett Mitchell
Christine (Christy) Puckett Mitchell born July 12, 1970 Took Jesus by the hand and entered into Heaven on March 31, 2024 surrounded by her husband and daughter in their home. She is survived by her husband Stephen, Daughter Casey, Brother Randall Puckett, (Stephanie) Nephews Sam and Spence Puckett. Shirley Layne, (Aunt) Pat Spitler, (Aunt) and numerous cousins. And special four legged companions Tilly, Starla and Bella. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Samuel Randolph (Randy) Puckett and Betty Burks Puckett. Christy was a graduate of Amherst County High School and Lynchburg General School of Nursing where she went on to become a Registered Nurse employed at Virginia Baptist Hospital for over thirty years. That is where she met the love of her life, Steve, his mom was a cancer patient there. She loved caring for the patients on Mundy Five and the Mothers and their Babies on the Mother Baby Unit. Christy loved her family and enjoyed cooking meals, going to the “cottage” at Smith Mountain Lake, riding the Jet Ski, boat and golf cart. She shared a very close bond with Steve and Casey they almost always did things together as a family It’s been so hard watching her suffering and in pain but she is at peace now rejoicing with the Angels, reunited with her parents, Steve’s mom and dad and all those who have gone on before her. We would like to thank all those that have been so supportive during this critical and tragic time in our lives. Thanks for all the visits, thoughts and prayers. We will never forget you and we love you all! Special thanks to all the staff at Lynchburg General Hospital for taking care of Christy for the 100 plus days she was hospitalized and to Amedisys Hospice and their team and for the tender, loving care provided from Nurse Missy, CNA Amber and too many others to mention but we thank them all for the special care and support they gave during our time of need. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday April 6 at 1:00 p.m. by the Rev. Dr. Derik W. Hamby at Whitten Monelison Chapel 3966 S. Amherst Hwy. Madison Heights. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Friday April 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery at 267 Ebenezer Rd. Gladys. Death leaves a heartache that no one but God can heal. Love never dies. We will carry you in our hearts and we will see you in our dreams. Our memories will last forever. No one knows what the future holds. We just have to trust and believe in the Lord that he will see us through whatever lies ahead. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Randolph Memorial Baptist Church or to The Wilson’s Disease Association.
