David Leroy Bernardi

David Leroy Bernardi, 66, of Amherst, passed away September 14, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Debra Maddox Bernardi. Born February 5, 1946, in Louisville, KY, he was a son of the late John Nathan Bernardi, and Mary Martha McAllister Bernardi Carver. He was also preceded in death by two brothers John and Dennis Bernardi. Mr. Bernardi was a retired United States Navy, Vietnam War era, veteran. He was an aircraft mechanic during his years of service with the military. He loved to travel, liked a good argument, and if it had wings, he wanted to fly it. Survivors also include a daughter, Maryann Bernardi and husband John, of New Orleans; two sisters, Fran Rupp and husband Don, of Jacksonville, FL, and Linda Svoboda and husband Jerry, of Louisville, KY; granddaughter, Bella; godson, Cory West, of Amherst; and his constant companion, “Trouble”, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
