

Born July 31, 1948, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Frank Eugene Simms and Louise Campbell Simms. He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry, Co., after 38 years of service, and was a member of Union Christian Church.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Simms; and a granddaughter, Amber N. Simms.
Survivors include two sons, D. Frank Simms Jr. and wife Belynda, of Monroe, and Dennis Simms and wife Elizabeth, of Madison Heights; his daughter, Jessica S. Russell, of Monroe; his twin brother, Ronnie W. Simms and wife Gail, of Madison Heights. Survivors also include a special aunt, Shelby Long and husband Kenneth, of Lynchburg; special cousin, Carol Vinoskey and husband Adam, of New London; eight grandchildren, Gwen, Cameron, Vinny, Autumn, Hunter, Jerica, Jeneva, and Jake; one great-granddaughter, Kaylie, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends tonight, April 4, 2011, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel, and at other times at the residence of D. Frank Simms.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Union Christian Church, by Pastor Elmer C. McClintock and the Rev. Paul Campbell. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery.
