Effie “Corrine” Johns Hall, 89, of Madison Heights, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 at Guggenheimer Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Donald T. Hall.
Born August 2, 1932 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Effie Roberts Hicks Johns and was also preceded in death by a son, George Tolley, Jr.; a sister, Virginia Harris and four brothers, Raymond, Roy, and Andrew Johns, and Clarence Hicks. She was retired from Central Virginia Training Center and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Effie is survived by her son, Matthew W. Johns of Madison Heights; three sisters, Evelyn Freeman Matthews and husband Patrick of Madison Heights, Margaret Pentecost and husband Robert of Florida, and Wilma Hensley of Lynchburg; two brothers, Jesse R. Johns and wife Lisa, of Madison Heights, and Wayne Johns of Monroe; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and a special niece, Vicky Webber.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Sidney Wade officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the funeral home and other times at the home of her sister, Evelyn, 2188 River Road, Madison Heights.
