She was born November 3rd, 1928 in Lynchburg to the late Mary Isabel Hesson and Wilmer Samuel Camden. She is survived by her daughter Ann H. Booker and husband Danny, sisters Marie Milton and Virginia Brewer, brother Howard Camden and wife Jackie, and three grandchildren Lee Mattox, Wendy Mattox and her friend Jason, and Michael Mattox and his friend Katie. Her family also includes a number of nieces and nephews, two “borrowed” grandchildren Amanda and Winter, and her four legged friend Blackie.
She was a charter member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church, choir member, Women’s Missionary Union leader, and served as the church clerk. Her professional life was spent as a clerk for the Lynchburg Foundry for 43 years. She loved painting, growing plants, music, and “chocolate”.
She was loved very much by her daughter and grandchildren. Granny could turn any trip to the grocery store into an adventure. To honor Granny, she would tell you to have a little talk with God today.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Derik Hamby officiating.
Interment will be private.
The family will host a reception in the fellowship hall at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church, immediately following the service and all are invited.
In lieu of flowers, Granny would ask you to contribute to Randolph Memorial Baptist Church. P.O. Box 70, Madison Heights, VA 24572 or to Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse P.O. Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.
