Born on November 23, 1937, in Pike County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Charley and Gertrude (Murphy) Whittaker.
Frances was the secretary for Amelon Elementary School in the 1960’s. She finished her working career retiring from Central Virginia Training Center. She was a talented artist, avid reader, and a loving mother.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Gilmore Witt and husband Michael; a beloved great aunt, Mildred Wayt of Lexington, KY; cousins, Harry Staton, Linda Brown, Kathy Murphy, Sherri Beavers, and James Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
