

Born in Lynchburg, February 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles Edward “Buster” Gibson and Frances Thomas Wills. He was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 32 years of service and was also a retired tractor trailer driver from Sonoco Paper Stock after 18 years of service and was a member of the James River Blue Grass Association and Northside Baptist Church. He was well known throughout the racing community where he was highly devoted to his sons racing career for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren E. Gibson and Clinton E. “Butch” Gibson and one step-sister, Brenda Chapman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, George Edward “Eddie” Gibson Jr. and his wife Anne of Madison Heights; one step-son, Lenwood A. Mohler of Elon; two sisters, Juanita Gibson and Faye Mays and her husband Bill all of Madison Heights and one step-brother, Wayne Wills and his wife Delores of Bent Creek.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Mead Cemetery with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
