Gertrude Saunders Cash

Born on August 27, 1935 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late George and Emma Saunders.

Gertrude was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church where she was a charter member, trustee, and former treasurer. She was an artist and musician and enjoyed singing.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Everett Saunders, Isabella Mays, Edith Martin, and Leroy Saunders.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, David Cash and wife Donna; daughter, Carol Burks and husband Howard; ten grandchildren, George Burks and Heather Thomas, Timothy Burks and wife Jamie, Melissa Burks, Tammy Burks, Emma Burks, Danielle Perks, Christopher Cash and wife Angela, Candace Phelps and husband Shane, Ian Cash, and Anna Tracy and husband Robert; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff at Medical Care Center and the staff at Helping Hands for their wonderful care of Gertrude during her illness.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor David Cash and Pastor Donna Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
