

Harry William Taylor, 87, of Madison Heights, known by many as H.W. or “Pa” passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the home of his daughter, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Frances Hicks Taylor.
Born in Gladstone, July 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Harry Wilbun Taylor and Lola Cunningham Taylor Coleman. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and was retired from Central Virginia Training Center with over 25 years of service. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe. Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Marie Woodfin.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Murray and her husband Mike of Madison Heights; two grandchildren, April Murray Scruggs and her husband Jonathan and Christopher Michael Murray and his wife Nicole all of Madison Heights and three great grandchildren, Mia & Jaxon Scruggs and Camden Murray.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Monroe with Pastor Glynn Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
