

James Troy “Jim” Webster, 81, of Madison Heights, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at Westminster Canterbury. He was born in Bedford County on May 16, 1932, a son of the late Craig V. and Alliene S. Webster Cyrus and was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Wright Webster; his brothers, Paul Webster and Hugh B. Webster and his sister, Ruby W. Henderson.
Jim is survived by two brothers, Earl D. Webster and wife Margie and Gene P. Webster and wife Nancy, all of Amherst County; one sister, Blanche Gibson and husband Burlie of Troutville; two sisters-in-law, Frances Webster and Nancy Webster; a brother-in-law, Roger Henderson, all of Amherst County; two uncles, Bowman Webster and wife Billie of Arcadia, FL and S.C. Webster of Baltimore, MD; one aunt, Katherine Summers of North Wilkesboro, NC and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Jim served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. During his military service, he received the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, The Korean Service Medal and the Army Reserve Achievement Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Cluster. Jim retired a Chief Warrant Officer from the Army National Guard. im was a longtime member of Madison Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and bus driver. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Virginia Baptist Hospital, where he accumulated over 4,000 hours of service. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 274 and a longtime member of the Lynchburg Antique Car Club. Jim was an avid antique car enthusiast who loved to restore old Fords.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Charles Stinson officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the home of his niece, Lisa Webster Lloyd, 1363 Buffalo Springs Tpke., Amherst, VA.
