Born in Anniston, Alabama, January 17, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William Gilmore and Maybell Schaffer Gilmore.
Jo Ann was a retired nurse from Piedmont Family Practice and also drove a school bus for a number of years with Amherst County Schools. She attended Living Water Baptist Church and Clifford Baptist Church. However, her most cherished role was that of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always idolizing her family and making them her number one priority.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Walker Tomlin, Sr.; two children, Kimberly T. Thomas (Mike) and Frank W. Tomlin, Jr.; three grandchildren, Brandi T. Sligh, Cara N. Tomlin (Corey) and Mason W. Thomas (Becca); five great grandchildren, Devin Sligh, Ryleigh Weakley, Daryn Dejarnette, Walker Thomas and Stetson Thomas; one sister, Sara Smith and one brother, Bill Gilmore.
A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastors Jeffrey Campbell and Daryl Donald officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
