Born in Roanoke, December 10, 1931, he was the son the late John R. Seal and Beatrice Worley Seal. He was a graduate of V.P.I. where he played football and wrestled and was known by his nickname “Baby” Seal. He served two years in the Army Reserve as a Paratrooper in the 503rd Airbourne Division. After 30 years of teaching, Mr. Seal retired from Amherst County High School having also served as athletic director and assistant football coach. In 1964, he started and coached the ACHS wrestling team and assisted surrounding schools in starting theirs. He was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of Northminster Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Donna Buchanan, Cheryl Bray and Catherine Connolly (Jack); six grandchildren, Ryan Buchanan (Amy), Robert Bray (Victoria), Cayce Carmody (Ryan), Andrew Bray, Justin Wright and Lindsay Wright; and, four great grandchildren, Irene, Emmelyn, Wesley and Quinn.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Reverend David Garrison officiating.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
