Kathy Mays Phillips

Kathy Mays Phillips, 63, of Amherst, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at her residence. Born on October 26, 1957 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of Margaret Tomlin Fry and the late Freddie D. Mays Sr. Kathy retired from Central Virginia Training Center. In addition to her mother, Margaret Fry, Kathy is survived by her children, Chris Phillips (Judy), Dwain Phillips (Kathy), and Kirstie Phillips (Brian); eight grandchildren, Tawnie, Andrea, Gabby, Amber, Jacob, Toby, Josh, and Mason; one great granddaughter, Meadow; three sisters, Margie McCormick (Larry), Melissa Ayers (Carlton), and Belinda Silby; two brothers, Freddie Mays, Jr. and Tony Mays; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow at Amherst Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 2 pm.
