Kendall Ray Brockman, 65, of Amherst passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by family.
He was born on March 25, 1952, in Lynchburg, VA, to the late Peyton Dabney Brockman and the late C. Vernelle (Nell) Harvey Brockman.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Martin Brockman; daughter, Anne-Simms Brockman Deacon; son-in-law, Matthew Thomas Deacon; sister, Sandra Brockman Martin (David); brothers, Michael Dabney Brockman (Nancy) and John Powell Brockman (Sarah); a special cousin, Cabell Steen Brockman (Pamela); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kendall worked in the family automobile business his entire life alongside his father and brothers. The former Brockman Chevrolet Subaru was a stable within the Amherst community.
Kendall was an avid golfer. He loved and looked forward to golf outings and weekend matches with the pack.
The Brockman family would like to express their appreciation to the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center. A special thanks to his oncology doctor, Dr. Kathleen Paul and staff. Their support and kindness did not go unnoticed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, 1701 Thomson Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501 and designated to Cancer Patient Support Fund.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. David Heerspink officiating. Following the service, friends and family are invited to the former Brockman dealership in Amherst for food, fellowship and a celebration of Kendall’s life.
