Obituary of Kenneth Wayne "Buddy" Witt
Kenneth Wayne “Buddy” Witt, 79, of Madison Heights, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at his residence. He was the loving husband of Barbara Coleman Witt for 58 years. Born on November 27, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Corbett Witt and Edith Robertson Wood. Buddy served our country in the United States Air Force. He worked for the Lynchburg News and Advance, in the Advertising department, for many years before leaving to work as a master custom picture frame designer. Buddy was also an amateur meteorologist and he enjoyed gardening, wildlife, art, and most importantly, his family. Buddy was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Howlett and her husband, Ray, and Barbara Witt Wright and husband, Jack. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Buddy is survived by his daughters, Gwen Witt Gunter and husband, David, and Christie Witt Barbour and husband, Tony; four grandchildren, Kristen Cash, Lauren Campbell and husband, Adam, Jason Barbour and wife, Kim, and Travis Barbour; three great grandchildren, Madelyn Elizabeth, Colton Campbell, and Cayleigh Campbell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at Barbara’s residence. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015, at Madison Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Todd Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.
