He was born in Lynchburg on June 20, 1950, son of the late Hayes and Madeline Faulconer.
Larry was retired from B&W having received many awards honoring his 43 years of service and dedication to his job. Larry was as dedicated to his hobbies as he was to his job and his true competitive nature came out in all his activities. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and of course horses. When it came to the horses, which was his passion, there was not an activity that he did not enjoy, including raising them, trading, showing and riding. He was a Past President of the Central Virginia Beagle Club who excelled at running and raising dogs. He was a field trial judge as well as a competitor. He was also a marksman who not only enjoyed his guns and shooting but due to his knowledge, was called on for advice by other gun enthusiasts. Larry loved to “showcase” especially on the dance floor with his wife, Helen. He loved the instigation of rivalry, especially as it related to sports, all of which he loved. He was a great storyteller, as well as a very hospitable man who never met a stranger. One common agreement among his many friends was that if Larry told you something “you could take it to the bank”.
Survivors include his wife, Helen L. Faulconer to whom he had been married for 47 years; 2 daughters, Melissa Walker and husband Billy, and Lorrie Faulconer; 2 brothers, Stephen Faulconer and wife Brenda, and Michael Faulconer; 1 sister, Linda Sprouse and husband Allen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Jesse Dunnaway officiating. Burial will follow at Faulconer Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please remember Larry, by spending some time enjoying one of his many pastimes just as you did with him when he was alive.
