Mary Catherine Humphreys Henson

Born November 9, 1959, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Thomas and Gertie Wynell Tomlin Humphreys. Mary was the baby of their nine children, and was very adored by all of her brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie “Haywood” Humphreys, and Walter Earnest Humphreys; and her sisters, Maxine Lillian Ware, Peggy Jean Whittaker, and Doris Marie Humphreys.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jamie W. Austin and husband, Tony L. Austin Jr., of Madison Heights, and Gabrielle N. Trent and fiancé, Jacob T. Dobyns, both of Monroe; sons, Thomas D. Trent, and Zachary B. Trent, both of Monroe; six grandchildren, Catherine “Bryce” Dugan, Gregory S. Dugan, Joshua LeValley, MaKayla LeValley, McKenzie LeValley, Kyleigh Hamilton, and one on the way; brothers, Harry E. Humphreys, of Amherst, and Lawrence W. Humphreys, of Madison Heights; her sister, Blanche Ann Humphreys, of Madison Heights, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews she loved as her own.

Mary was a strong willed woman who endured a lot during her life, but always pulled through. She was a fighter, and would do anything for her family and friends. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her and our love for her was immense. For her, we are forever grateful.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6-8:00 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home by the Rev. Nathan Weidman. Interment will follow in Oronoco Church of The Brethren Cemetery, in Vesuvius, Virginia.
