Mary Katherine Magann Gillispie

Born April 7, 1921 in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Bright and Annie Burks Magann and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty G. Proffitt; a grandson, Timothy East; two sisters, Bessie M. Price and Grace M. Harper and three brothers, Luke Magann, Frank Magann, and Clarence Magann and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Gillispie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Oakdale Baptist Church in Madison Heights.

Mrs. Gillispie is survived by three children, James Gillispie and Cecil Gillispie and wife Betty and Nancy G. Franklin, all of Madison Heights; fourteen grand-children; twenty four great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 at Oakdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter, Nancy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church or Centra Hospice.
