Pauline Gordon Staples, age 103 of Amherst, widow of Reed Benjamin Staples, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
She was born on July 3, 1916 in Amherst County, daughter of the late Lewie and Etta Gordon.
In addition to her husband Reed she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Eugene Staples.
Pauline retired from Ben Franklin Five and Dime after over 30 years. She loved to cook, play Rook, and garden.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances Edgemon; a son, Carl W. Staples; a daughter in law, Shelby Staples; 3 grandchildren, Karen Hodges, Jason Staples, and Amy Dawson and husband Bill; 3 great grandchildren, Reed, Reaghan and Ryker Dawson and a sister, Myrtle G. Surber
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Pauline’s caregiver, Vicky Litchford aka “Thelma” and her family.
The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Amherst Cemetery.
