Peggy Lee Ponton Lawhorne

Peggy Lee Lawhorne, 77, of Arrington, died, Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Charles Lee Lawhorne. Born March 15, 1935, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Benjamin Ponton and the late Ruby Gordon McKinney Ponton.

Peggy was a retired bookkeeper for Central Fidelity and a member of College Hill Baptist Church. She did attend Madison Heights Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by one daughter, Nora Lynn Miller Bagwell; and her sister, Brenda P. Murray.

In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by two daughters, Victoria L. White and her husband Michael of Lynchburg and Denise Burns of Madison Heights; nine grandchildren, Carrie and Tori White, Amy and Nathaniel Miller, Amanda and Rebecca Bagwell and Matthew, Michele and Gabriel Burns; one great-grandson, Aiden Miller; her aunt Thelma McKinney of Lynchburg; her brother-in-law, Dale Murray, Jr. of Virginia Beach; and two nephews, Thomas and Jeffrey Murray, also of Virginia Beach.

A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2013, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Todd Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Centenary Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence of Denise Burns.
