

Peggy Arthur Ricketts, 85, of Madison Heights passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Willie Glenn Ricketts.
Born in Lynchburg, August 23, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Luther Osborne Arthur and Fannie Hicks Arthur. She was a member of Amelon United Methodist Church where she served in the Sanctuary choir and Sanctuary hand bell choir. She had previously worked with children in music and teaching for 32 years. She had also served as Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the Administrative Council and a Trustee as well as other positions. One of her great loves was working with the children’s ministries but her greatest love was her husband Glenn.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Christine A. Cooper and twin brothers, Horace D. Arthur and Herman R. Arthur.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mildred R. Taylor; a special niece, Patsy C. Stinson and her two God daughters, Laura R. Bailey and Susan W. Rosser and a number of other nieces and nephews and wonderful friends in the community.
A service celebrating Peggy’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at Amelon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Erbin officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Amelon United Methodist Church.
