Born on June 23, 1930 in Forks of Buffalo, he was the son of the late Allie Lincoln Martin and Mary Hartless Martin.
He was a member of Calvary Cross Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sisters, Ada E. Hudson of Madison Heights, Ann M. Marsh of Lynchburg and Doris M. Raines and her husband Raymond of Lynchburg. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by three brothers, Hayden L. Martin, Lawrence W. Martin and Versal R. Martin as well as three sisters, Lucille M. Campbell, Mabel M. Bowling, and Irene M. Allen.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Calvary Cross Baptist Church with Pastor E. Wayne Hudson Officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Amherst Cemetery.
