

Born in Amherst Co., he was the son of the late Willis Walker Freeman, Sr. and the late Nellie Gowen Freeman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ira Pitt Freeman and Pitt’s wife, Doris and his infant brother Charlie Lyle Freeman and his infant sister, Mary Freeman.
Walker was a faithful, long time member of Madison Heights Christian Church and he was a retired engineer from the Norfolk & Western Railroad after 40 years of service.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, J. Eddie Freeman and his wife, Sharon and W. Dale Freeman and his wife, Beth, all of Monroe; five grandchildren, Christy Fore and her husband, J.C., and Adam Clark and his wife, Lesley, both of Madison Heights, Lisa Scruggs and her husband, Ashley, of Cullen, Shannon Belangla of Pensacola, FL and Tammy Brooks of Las Vegas, NV; five great grandchildren, Kelsey Fore, Cameron Scruggs, Hailey Scruggs, Robbie Belangia and Olivia Belangia and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
