Claude was a worker, always took pride in what he did, at his home and at the workplace. He retired from SCSM and worked at the Volkswagen plant and True Temper until they moved from the valley. He was also a licensed refrigeration and air conditioning tech.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Sr. and Macel Skiles Bowles; son, John W. Bowles; daughter, Deanna Bowles Vaughan; stepson, David Sneed; sisters, Emma Jean Pierson, Josephine Lucas, Ruby Burdette and Margaret Stover; and brothers, Otis Bowles Jr., Delbert Bowles and Robert Bowles.
Claude is survived by his wife, Mickie R. Bowles; daughter, Claudia A. Dangerfield of Charleston; stepson, Michael Sneed of Charleston; sister, Brenda Sue Butcher of Cross Lanes; brothers, Charles and Eugene Bowles, both of Charleston; and grandchildren, Claude John “CJ” Bowles, and Heather, Logan and Steven Sneed.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastors Mark Flynn and Steve White officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
The visitation for his family and friends will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
