Delilah Jane Griffith Bracken, lovingly known as Janie to her friends and family, went home to be with the Lord the morning of December 12, 2025, unexpectedly. She was a woman of deep faith, quiet strength, and enduring love, whose life reflected the beauty of a heart devoted to Jesus and to her family.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Otha and Dorothy Griffith; her brother, Billy Griffith; her nephew, Jason Griffith; and her beloved grandson, Benjamin Daniel Bracken.
She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-four years, David M. Bracken; her son, Woodson David Bracken, and his wife Christy, along with their children, Buddy, Billy, and Brianna; her daughter, Susan Denise O’Neal; and Susan’s children, Joseph and Courtney O’Neal. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, Mary Jackson, Tressa Stewart, and Robin Skiles, as well as her faithful canine companion, Toby.
Janie attended Winfield High School. She spent twelve years selling Home Interior, a role she truly loved, finding joy in both the work and the relationships it brought into her life. She later worked for and retired from the State of West Virginia.
A woman of steadfast faith, Janie was a faithful attendee of Maranatha Fellowship in St. Albans for twenty-eight years. In more recent years, she returned to her home church, Spring Fork Baptist Church. She also faithfully followed and supported her son’s ministry at Deep River Chapel in Pearisburg, Virginia.
Those who knew Janie knew her as a woman who loved the Lord deeply. She loved her husband, cherished her children, and adored her grandchildren. She was beautiful both inside and out—gracious, kind, and full of quiet strength. Her presence brought warmth, and her love left a lasting imprint on every life she touched.
Janie will be deeply missed. The void her passing leaves cannot be filled by anyone or anything, yet her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Spring Fork Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Long and her son, Pastor David Bracken officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
