Linda Sue Wood

Linda Sue Wood, 60 of Hernshaw was called up to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday August 18, 2015 after long illnesses. She was preceded in death by her father, Beauford Meadows and mother, Mary Midge” Meadows; daughter, Stephanie Lynn Pettry; granddaughter, Josie. Linda sang and played piano gospel music for most of her adult life as a ministry in sharing the gospel in song. She lived the Christian life she professed in song. She joined her husband, Steve and his brother Randy to form the group Songsmen and Linda in 1977. They traveled extensively in their ministry for 35 years, ending because of her health declining. She was a member of Lens Creek Church of the Nazarene. Linda was a 1973 graduate of East Bank High School and was a retired LPN for Dr. J. Banks Shepherd for many years. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Steve Wood of Hernshaw; son, Chris Wood of Virginia Beach, VA; grandsons, Jaxson Bowles and Joshua Wood; her wonderful cousin, friend and caregiver, Shirley Adkins of Teays Valley; and a host of other family members and friends. A visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday August 20, 2015 from 4 to 7 PM at the Sharon Church of God on Cabin Creek with the Funeral Services beginning at 7 PM with Rev. Pat McGue and Rev. Eddie Withrow officiating. A private family committal service will be held on Friday August 21, at the Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to help with funeral expenses made to the Linda Wood Burial Fund at BB&T 5701 MacCorkle Avenue SE, Charleston, WV 25304.
